The core function of the Education and Training Quality Assurance Department includes accrediting Skills Development Providers for Legacy Qualifications, the Registration of Assessors and Moderators, the Verification of Learning, awarding Learner Certificates and the delegated Assessment and Development Quality Partner functions.

The purpose of the Education and Training Quality Assurance Unit is to carry out functions delegated by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) has in terms of Section 26I (2) of Skills Development Act of No.97 of 1998 and the QCTO’s Delegation Policy to the CATHSSETA.

The delegated functions are as follows:

2. Monitoring
3. Verification
4. Register ETD Practitioners
5. Certification
6. Maintain Learner MIS through CIMS
7. Upload Learner data to the National Learner Records Database and
8. Managing the DQP and AQP functions
