It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we at CATHSSETA extend our heartfelt condolences to the Mbokazi and Nkambule families, on the passing of an icon in the Crown Gospel Music Industry, Mrs Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule. Mrs Mbokazi-Nkambule was an extraordinary woman, a pioneering media personality, author, and an entrepreneur whose influence and contributions touched the lives of many across South Africa. She was one of the industries figures we had recently welcomed into our fold.

Her passing comes at a time when the CATHSSETA Board had recently approved a partnership proposal for the hosting of the Crown Gospel Music Awards. Just this past Friday, our team had reached out to her offices to finalise contracting, when we then told that she was hospitalised. Like all South Africans, we were hopeful for her swift recovery so that we could resume our contracting; but the heavens had other plans.

In honour of her legacy and all that she has done to empower and motivate people from all walks of life, we will proceed with finalising the partnership between CATHSSETA and the Crown Gospel Music Awards Team.
Her visionary leadership, particularly on the creation and hosting of radio shows, as well as founding the Crown Gospel Music Awards, has left an indelible mark in the industry. Mrs Mbokazi-Nkambule’s unwavering commitment to celebrating and honouring achievements in gospel music stands as a testament to her dedication and passion for the Arts, Culture and Heritage sectors. She undoubtedly shaped the gospel music industry in South Africa and beyond by fulfilling her life’s mission. She transformed her passion into a thriving business, which in turn provided gospel music with a voice and a platform to showcase talents worldwide and feel a deep sense of appreciation and belonging.

During this difficult time, we wish the Mbokazi and Nkambule families strength, peace, and comfort. May you find solace in the legacy that Mrs Mbokazi has left behind and in the countless lives she touched with her wisdom, kindness, and grace.
